Can anybody make out any more from this Cheshire licence from 1623?
I can see ‘Rannu Astle’ (Ralph), et Gratia Walton (?).
It seems to mention ‘Astle’ again on the next line.
Is the last word ‘Chancell?
Thanks very much

Astle
on the aforesaid day
Letters of dispensation were granted to Master R(...) Moyle, clerk, to solemnize a marriage between Ralph Astle and Grace Walton, spinster, without banns, saving etc.; the said Astle was sworn by the lord chancellor.
ADDED - I'm not 100% certain that it's Ralph, but I can't suggest anything else that seems to fit.

Many thanks Bookbox.
I've seen it transcribed as Ralph, though not sure.
Unfortunately no place give.
Thanks again.

Unfortunately no place give.
Can you locate the clergyman, Moyle? There was one at Astbury, but a little later.

Yes, I saw that one Bookbox. Thanks for having a look. Some 25 miles away from the area I thought it would be. A possibility, but by no means a certainty for Ralph.
