Title: Mid-Victorian Button ID
Post by: Tom 23 on Tuesday 31 July 18 10:07 BST (UK)
Hi,
This mid 19th century button has the letters St (saint) J S O.

I thought it would be easy to find out what they stood for, but am struggling, any ideas gratefully received!

Thanks

Possibly St. James, there's imagery of him with a staff and large hat as a pilgrim.

Yes, I have googled an image of St James and think that you are onto something there.

So the 'O' could be 'Order'.

St James ... Order

Thanks

Add, just noticed there is a definite shape on the hat which I think is a cockleshell which he is associated with wearing on his hat
