I am coming back to this after several years of leaving it alone hoping something has appeared in the interim. My gt. grandfather Albert Ernest Dargue died in Hull in 1938. He died on January 1st at 5 Durham Street. He had left his wife and family and had returned to the town of his birth with his new lady friend. His children were told by their mother that he was dead after he left. I expect this was to save face.
I have not been able to find out where he was buried or if he was cremated.
Could anyone please help close this search for me please.
Thanks
Jac

Do you know the name of the lady friend?
Could he have been buried with or near her?
Who was the informant on his death certificate?
Are there any cemeteries near to his home address? If so, perhaps you could email them with his name and date of death

The informant on his death certificate is E. A Rosen who I think is the lady he ran off with. This person lived at the same address.
Thanks

Would this be her death entry?

It may be. I am not sure at all but it looks possible.

You could try :- His death record (burial or cremation) could be available from the Hull Cemeteries Chanterland Avenue office. Sorry I don’t know the full address.
As a matter of interest if the name Laeathly comes into it we will have a connection.

Yes I have lots of Leathley in my tree. Martha Ann Leathley (b. 1851) was Alberts mother. She married Jacob Dargue. I will contact Hull as soon as I can.
Thanks

Advice from a contact
If you join the Hull General cemetery group on Facebook you might come up with some answers
Others in the group may have known this family even if they were not buried in this cemetery

You could try here...they have a help desk:

Thank you

Looked through all the burial books i have nut not found a burial for him at all. Possible he was buried in an unmarked grave.
-
Sorry I should have said that he has been found in the East Cemetery I think it is and is in a grave with others. The grave was paid for in perpetuity but it does not have a headstone. Thanks for your help though.

I think Albert Ernest Dargue burial not have must be in a book I do not have.
My connection to the Dargue family is through Mary Ellen Leathley Born 1853 Died 1935 Withernsea, who married Robert Drewery Andrew Born 1852 Hull Marr 1874 died 1942 Withernsea.
