Need help for an American Friend who is trying to trace her Great Great Granddad.
All she knows about him is his Name = Thomas Fry arrives in New York on 7 March 1853 aged 18 from Liverpool on the Ship "De Witt Clinton "
He marries A Catherine Middlesworth from Beaverton in Pennsylvania on 6/10/1857
On a late Birth registration of his Son Wiley in 1875 he states he is from Gloucester, England. That's all she knows of his UK link.
She thinks he was born 4 Sept 1835
He died 8 October 1880 in Harrison, Iowa.
Any help or suggestions about finding the Fry Family in Gloucester in 1835 would be a great help.
He did call one of his Sons Moses which could be a grandfather family name.

The late birth registration was signed by the son Wiley so the Gloucester information may not be accurate.

Being born c 1835 there will be no Birth Cert available for Thomas so a Baptism is the closest we can find.

It would appear Thomas FRY married Ellen CLARKE in 1843 - after 'some' children were born and were a Catholic family.
Not sure if the tree on Ancestry is correct as there is a baptism at St Nicholas, Lancashire, of

Yes, that's her Incorrect Tree.
Just suggested to her to delete her Thomas Fry marrying E Clarke as her Thomas Fry from Gloucester only connection with Liverpool was that he sailed to New York from there in 1853 unmarried.
My Thomas Fry marrying at St Nicholas's Church E. Clarke and all his Liverpool Family got mixed up in her Tree.

Can see the copy of the original baptism on Wiley FRY - 28 December 1875 - and yes it does state Thomas FRY was from Gloucestershire.
