Does anyone else use compatible ink for an Epson photo printer. The ink has now risen to £43 :o
As I mostly use coloured ink for restoring and printing for the visitors at the Heritage Centre where I am a volunteer, I am reluctant to pay this as I believe it is an extortionate price to pay, £36 was expensive enough but i'm not prepared to pay what they now charge.
I would appreciate your advice.

Hi
What is the printer model and cartridge identities?

Epsonstylus Photo R245...no idea about the cartridges...OH usually puts them in Ray. I have an Epson XP-405 all in one printer scanner but the printer is awful so I reverted back to my old Epson photo printer and the print quality has always been superb, that's why I always bought their ink.

Thank you Ray and Gadget...that's so helpful, I really appreciate your help...I'm on it ;D

Not all the "compatible" cartridges are as good as the originals, so you may have to try a few different suppliers before you find one where you are happy with quality and price.
Don't give in if the first you try doesn't suit.
Printer ink is infamously the most expensive liquid sold by retail on the planet. :'( :'( There are some more expensive things in the pharmaceutical industry, but you can't find them on your high street.

I have been using www.choicestationery.com for my Epson for years, they sell compatible inks for a whole range of makes at a fraction of the price of the big brands, they are very quick at dispatching orders and I have never had any problems.

I currently use a compatible ink for my Epson from this company:
www.cartridgepeople.com
For my SX415 results perfect for a total cost of less than ten pounds for 4inks.

Hi Carol, have a look at 999inks.co.uk Official and compatible cartridges.
They are pretty good.

Thanks so much, Andrew, Jebber and Calverley Lad for your valuable input...the reason I have stuck with the Epson recommended ink is due to the print quality but now I have other options.

Thanks Frank...also worth a look. appreciate your help.

I have been very happy with Stinkyink (honestly!) - they guarantee replacement if the compatibles don't work. Multipack for your printer £10.99, £9.98 each if you buy two.
When buying a printer, the total cost of ownership is the key thing to research, I've found, not just the ticket price for the printer.

It's great to talk!
Keep it up!
Fabulous leads.

On Amazon. I don't think that I've ever bought O.E.M inks except those that come with the printer. I bought a cheap Epson XP-322 to replace my trusty Canon when it finally expired.
I don't do much printing nowadays . It tells me occasionally that I'm using compatible inks, but I just continue. I don't have any problems.#, but it's now cheaper to buy a new printer complete
with inks, than buy the ink set. ( I suspect that the O.E.M's have cottoned on to that and have reduced the amount of inks in them)

Thanks Tomkin for your helpful advice...much appreciated. Some very useful advice to bear in mind.

My OH bought replacement ink for my Epson Stylus PhotoR245 printer at :
https://www.cartridgesave.co.uk/ink-cartridges/Epson/Stylus-Photo-R245.html
The printer doesn't recognise the ink cartridges, these are supposed to be compatible inks...any ideas please...OH has tried several internet instructions without success :-\

Has your OH tried ignoring the ink not recognised warning?
I use a different Epson printer, so I am not familiar with your model, however, I always get the ink not recognised warning, but by clicking to continue anyway it prints as normal. I use Think compatible inks from Choice Stationery.

There isn't the option to ignore the warning and you can't continue to print :-\
But thanks anyway.

Not to worry...thanks for your interest.

This happened to me a while ago, Carol. I think I switched the printer off and then on and they worked.
Otherwise, I'd get on to the supplier.

Google IJT I have used them for years, with a Brother and two different Canon printers for myself, and an Epson for a friend of mine. Excellent, and the cartridges are brilliant.
-
Thanks Redroger for your response...the supplier gave us useful instructions and we can now print.
