Hi,
I have the birth records of a James Pollock McFarlane, born Auckland 1918 to William Anderson McFarlane and Agnes Patrick (nee Pollock) both born in Rutherglen and Springburn Scotland. William died in 1920 and Agnes possibly married a Lindsay Thompson Brown in 1929. I cannot find any further details of James. Was his named changed, died, left the country? does anyone have them in their trees please?
Thank you

Hi, thank you for the replies. Agnes was born in 1872 and died 1967 and yes I have Brown's death 1986. I can trace Agnes back to Scotland but nothing of James, he may have emigrated in which case he won't be the person with a different name I was hoping he may have become - if that makes sense.

So where did Agnes die? If this is known, a newspaper death notice could be obtained. Or-
Do you have a death printout for her? This would/should show the age(s) of living children.
1967/41771 Brown Agnes Pollock 85Y
1967/25318 Brown Agnes 85Y

Thank you for that, I found that Agnes in death notices but thought it was the wrong Agnes' as they have her birth date as her marriage date -1908 - I should know by now not to trust dates!
I will look into the archway records. I suspect though that this is all a wild goose chase again and James Pollock McFarlane is exactly who he is and not been adopted later.

Just wondering if Agnes' full name was Agnes Patrick Pollock as this looks to be her birth :-\
POLLOCK AGNES PATRICK 1881

Hi, Yes it is, some records are Patrick others are Pollock. She notes on her records she was born in Springburn. She has given James her maiden name as his middle one.

She notes on her records she was born in Springburn.
It's quite possible the family moved from Dennistoun to Springburn when she was a child & assumed she was born there as they're next door to one another?
