Angelo Boggiano & Maria Ciliegia(?) both recorded as Italian. They had a son Pietro b 1830 and bap. 1830 at Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London. Trying to establish when they came to London, where in Italy they came from and if they married in UK or Italy or elsewhere.
Family moved to Liverpool before 1835. Angelo b.c. 1800. Following his death in 1841, Maria remarried John Ginnochio (believe the two families were connected somehow). Maria’s father was Bartholmeo Ciliegia, a lawyer.
Not sure where to go from here, any suggestions/info welcome.

Could this be family?
The National Archives have a 1854 document for a Peter Boggiano: He is 41, a clothier and outfitter and living in Liverpool (14 years). He was born in Chiavari in Sardinia and arrived abt 23 years previously.

Apparently Sardinia (in this case) is actually the Kingdom of Sardinia (annexed 1815-1861) as Chiavari is in Genova. ( https://www.italythisway.com/places/articles/chiavari-history.php )

Not sure that this is my family but I will certainly look into the Sardinia connection. Angelo was a street musician, Pietro seems to have alternated between this and his step father’s occupation of plaster figure maker.

added this is just outside Liverpool so I wonder if Angelo came to Liverpool because he had relatives already there ??

The Boggianos came from Semoviga in the mountains above Chiavari, which is between Genova and La Spezia.
My mother was a Boggiano and was born in Liverpool, where there were a number of Boggianos. See the book Little Italy for info.
We are in Italy now and are going to Semivoga and visit Boggiano house next week. It is still owned by a Boggiano and he has very kindly offered to show us the hoyse and Boggiano valley as he called it.
