This is not an urgent request, but if someone has access to a directory for this address, I would like to know the name of the occupants in 1914. I tried the 1910 census, but I'm not convinced it was the same people (a Fielden family.)
My husband's father was born at that address and we don't understand why, as it was away from their home. Perhaps a relative lived there, which would give us some more information.
Thanks,
Kathleen

Could it have been a Mother and Baby Home?

Seems unlikely. It's a very small semi detached house (just 4 rooms). In Birkdale, near Southport.

Unless the house numbering has changed?! :-\

My local knowledge thinks this is unlikely :) :)

It might be worth a post on the LSWLFHS family history forum - perhaps someone would check Seed's 1914 Southport directory and the 1914 register of electors for you.

Hope that helps

I think Gibel meant to type 72 rather than 70. I know that Thomas Monk was still at 72 in 1927.

This is the best group ever. Thank you all, the mystery is solved. The family was living in Todmorden both before and after my husband's father was born and we couldn't figure out why they were in Southport. It seems they briefly tried a different location for the fish & chip shop. They returned to Tod and Ernest Cooper became a bus driver.
Tick one more box!
Cheers,
Kathleen

Sorry I did mean 72 I was getting very annoyed with my iPad as it kept crashing!
Glad it helped.

I've read this with interest as I know the address as used to work nearby. Coincidently my ancestors moved from Tod to work in a Chip shop in Blackpool in the same time period!
