Title: Anyone from Donegal Town who could identify these relations?
Post by: rohancorea on Saturday 11 August 18 15:23 BST (UK)
Hello,

So I've had this photograph of my Donegal Town Hegarty relations for a few years now, but am trying to identify three of the people in it. It was taken during the 1930s or 1940s.

Back row L-R: Unknown, Unknown, Mary Anne Hegarty nee McBrearty (1868-1950), Unknown, William Hegarty sr. (b. 1866)

Bottom row L-R: William Hegarty jr (1896-1968, my great-grandfather), Edward Conway, Christie Hegarty (1906-1989).

William Sr. and Mary Anne had 9 children in total so I'm assuming that the other people are their other children. Edward Conway married their daughter, Susan (b. 1903). I think this was taken at the home of my 2x great grandparents, they lived in the Mullins.

I've asked a couple of people in Donegal Town who I thought might have known, but no luck so far.

If anyone might know of the people in this photo, or knows somebody who could help me identify the unknown people, I'd be very grateful.

Rohan

Have you tried contacting all possible living relatives to ask them if they know who is in the photo or at least if they also have either a copy of this one or other photos with these people in it?

Have you asked the newspaper if they would publish it?

Have you asked if you can put a copy up on Church Notice board?

I've asked aunts, uncles and anyone else in my family that might know, but they're not sure who they are. Emailed it to some relations as well but no luck so far. I shall ask if they have other photos with these people too though, I hadn't thought of that, thank you!

I'll look into this. I did put the photo on a Donegal facebook page but had no luck there.

I might ask my Aunt in Donegal to do that for me. I'm not in Ireland which makes it harder!

It's the Irish Post not Irish post  ::) If you'd typed it correctly I would have known it was a newspaper
