Hello,
I have Ellen Mitchell born Greenock Scotland on 22 Jan 1887, Ellen was also known as Helen and Nellie.
Ellen married an Abram Lyle in Greenock, but she later left him and moved to Canada sometime after 1907. I know Ellen was still alive in 1952 as she visited Greenock. I believe she remarried, I do not know if she had more children.
I do not know what name she used in Canada, it could have been Mitchell or Lyle.
If someone could point me in the right direction I would be so grateful.

Marriage was 1903 Greenock West and she married as Nellie
Did Abram re-marry? Have you checked SP for his death to see whether it shows anything about Ellen? He died in 1954 Greenock - he was born c 1885 Londonderry per 1901 entry - parents Edward and Annie
SP has a marriage in Greenock West in 1926 to a Margaret Wrath - might be worth checking to see if it's the same Abram as that could mean there was a divorce

Born 1887 and married 1903 makes her about 16 when she married Abram Lyle?
What about 1911 Scottish census? is she with Abram Lyle? if not, is he listed as married, single or divorced?
How do you know she went to Canada?
Have you checked for passengers leaving U.K. ports?

Sorry for the late reply.
I have found her in the 1911 census, still with Abram and with a daughter also called Ellen. I know by talking to family she left Abram and moved to Canada, he later married as a widow, although she was still alive.

Who were Ellen/Nellie's siblings? Wondering if she went with one of them?
