I have a copy of a letter written on 20 March 1956 from 7 Railton Road, Herne Hill SE24, and signed 'Cousin Annie'.
Can anyone suggest where there might be a Register of Electors from the mid-1950s, and how to home in on the volume that contains 7 Railton Road? Or any other way of finding out Annie's surname and the name of anyone else in the household?
A visit to a repository in London is not impossible, but as I live in Scotland I can't just pop in tomorrow or next week when I'm in the area.

In 1956 there is an Anne G Gray plus Hilda & William Loughton.
You can find it on Ancestry by using this database

I just put 7 Railton road into Keyword - no other information then selected 1950's on the next page

Thank you so much for your lightning response, Rosie. That is just the information I was after. I now know exactly who she was and how she fits in. Sadly not my line, which is why I was having a bit of bother working it out, but I am in touch with connections from her line who will be interested.

At least you are able to tie her in with someone ;D
