Title: Manningtree Parish Registers
Post by: essexpoet on Sunday 26 August 18 12:05 BST (UK)
I am seeking help with a small mystery.
I have been looking at the Manningtree parish registers in the 1940s and 1950s. A lot of the brides, grooms and fathers of each have their occupation recorded as B.X.P.
I cannot find any occupation which would be abbreviated this way and wonder if it was a place of work rather than an occupation.

I just googled BXP Manningtree and it gave me British Xylonite Plastics, Manningtree  :-\

Thanks Rosie,
I thought that would be the answer. From the numbers that had that listed as an occupation it must have been (perhaps still is) a large employer.

Just read the Wiki link - appears the company went into liquidation some years ago.
