Title: Margaret Chiron - Nice
Post by: zetlander on Wednesday 29 August 18 21:20 BST (UK)
Margaret Hughes was born 16 February 1880 in Bala North Wales.
She died in Nice France on 30 May 1938 - intestate.

All I know about her is that she worked as a nanny - may have gone to New Jersey USA and at some point married ??? Chiron.

Can find no records of her after she left North Wales.

Administration to Evan Wynne Hughes (no relationship shown)  - she was a widow

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/

Evan Wynne Hughes was b 1897 Carnarvon  mmn Roberts parents Robert & Jane

Margaret Hughes b 1880 Bala - mmn Roberts  ?? parents names

So how have you linked that probate entry to the Margaret Hughes you are researching?  Was Evan related to her?

I can't find a birth for him but the 1939 has an Evan Wynne HUGHES b.24 Oct 1875, he is on the 1911 census as well. He lives in Bangor but was born in Trefdraeth? Anglesey.

Any chance that you know where her second husband Hippolyte might have been buried as it might give a clue?

If she's buried in Nice you can contact all the graveyards of Nice and ask them.

What is her maiden name? Her husbands 's ?

So, she died 30 May 1938 (not 20 May ) and the body was transferred to Marseille. I presume she may be buried in Marseille.
I'll phone  and let you know .

I'm nor sure whether this might influence the story but Hippolyte M Chiron, a musician  and Margaret were married in Manhatten NY on 6 Dec 1926.

Zetlander

Lot of time and effort wasted with 2 posts running on different boards and no cross reference link posted by you

The city hall of Marseille (which manages the graveyards) says that they have no Hughes , or Chiron Margaret . But she could have been buried in a family burial cave : but they have no Hippolyte Chiron .Do you have the papers concerning the cemetery plot (in this case they could find where is or was the grave)?

I ordered the death certificate and I'll sent it to you as soon as I get it.

Margaret Chiron (nee Hughes) born 16 Februaruy 1880 in Parc Bala N.Wales.  Daughter of Edward Hughes and Margaret Hughes (nee Roberts)

Evan Wynne Hughes born 30 August !! 1885 was Margaret's brother.

No idea where Margaret went to after leaving Bala nor when she got married. Said to have been working as a nanny.

Thanks.

Isn't it easier to just download the death certificate? Or is there another version than the following:

As Marseille is a port, I'm wondering whether the body could have been shipped to her family in Wales or maybe even to the USA ...

Have you read the replies on your other post?

Re Evan Wynne Hughes b 1885.  If Birth reg was also Bala it shows him only as Evan as does the 1891 entry

I have asked the moderator to merge both posts to prevent further duplication of efforts

I can't think of any other good reason why she would have been moved to Marseille as nothing has jumped out to link her to that place (yet ...).

Well, Hippolyte was born in Orange, not very far from Marseille , she may have had in-laws living there with a family burial cave in a cemetery.

Thank you all for your interest and information.  I am now trying to discover if she was in fact buried in her home village of Parc Bala N.Wales.

Cheers!
