Title: Help please
Post by: tresario on Saturday 01 September 18 17:47 BST (UK)
Hello
I am looking for a death between Sept 1969 and 1980 of a Geraldine Marie Carolan in Dublin. She had 2_sons and a daughter born in 1965,1969..don't know if the girl was born in 1970..some say she died in child birth..others not. I don't know anything about her other than she was Roman Catholic.
Any ideas where to look please?
Many thanks.

Do you have her year of birth?

You could try here. There is a possibility.

Advanced search.
I entered the name (no middle name) and a wide search for year - D.O.D, embracing the years you have.
It only shows a result and you would then have to purchase further information.
It is a risk but there is an age for the deceased which might help you.

I didn’t put in any money.
Just first and last name. 1970 +/- 10yrs as date of death. There is no provision for a possible age.
That name comes up aged 41 yrs and a year.
I know you have given the name but as we don’t know if it is the right person I have chosen not to do. That’s just me  ::)

Does the son not have a copy of his birth cert? If not suggest he gets one.
As Geraldine was only born about 1930 even her marriage image won't be online yet.
Although if she married fairly young it may be on FamilySeach index which goes to 1958 and a photo copy could be ordered.
Assuming you know her husband's name you could try matching his name up with Geraldines on the same Vol, Page number and Year

I don't think it's going to be straight forward ordering his cert with out his mother's maiden name.
You have his name, his date of birth, father's name, mother's first name, place, mmmmm
He may have to do it himself when you don't have mother's maiden name.
Might be worth ringing Roscommon and explaining why he doesn't know her name and asking how he can get it.

I can't get one without knowing my mother's maiden name!

Thank you. I emailed roscommon , seeing if the death was reported by her husband. Asking for a marriage cert at same time..if they allow it. He was 2 when she passed.

Aren't there any electoral documents in Dublin for 1971 that could be accessed?

The Gods are shining on us Tonight..father Joseph Carolan mom Geraldine Hillis...born Dec 1929

She's born in New Ross Wexford her mom was Orange..I've never heard of anyone called that before.
