Title: Thomas Bowthorpe
Post by: theolddear on Wednesday 05 September 18 14:23 BST (UK)
I am looking for any information on Thomas BOWTHORPE He was born 1853 died 1925. On the 1861 census he is shown with parents Allan and Emma BOWTHORPE. He then seems to disappear from the face of the earth!!  Although he suposedly married and had at least 4 children I can find no trace of him after 1861.  Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I am looking for any information on Thomas BOWTHORPE He was born 1853 died 1925.

He was actually born 1852 rather than 1853, so the 1864 death aged 12 looks like a match on age.

Birth registration: Thomas Bowthorpe, mother’s maiden name Davison, Dec qtr 1852 Norwich 4b 100.

Birthdate was 10 November 1852, according to his 7 February 1853 baptism record at St Clement (Christ Church), Norwich.

Thomas, son of Allen Bowthorpe (a weaver) & Emily (late Davison), of New Catton.

Given the information found by trish1120 and the lack of evidence of an alternative date of death. there are three possibilities:
1) he died in 1864
2) he changed his name
3) he emigrated

It would be useful to know the source of the information that Thomas died in 1925 so it could be checked. (the only Bowthorpe d1925 on FreeBMD is Albert J age 45)

All the best
Philip
