Title: Fenny Bentley gravestone
Post by: Mansl on Thursday 06 September 18 19:10 BST (UK)
I  was wondering if there is anyone on here that lives near Fenny Bentley or Thorpe because my great grandmother died in 1932 while living in that area. Her Name was Sarah Ann Beresford and she was aged 63. Her husband William died between 1919 and 1929. I wonder if she or both have a gravestone in St Edmund Parish Church, Fenny Bentley. I mentioned Thorpe because that is where William was living when they married in 1916 at Fenny Bentley. I might have to drive there myself but it is a long way.

This might be of help to confirm whether or not William and Sarah Ann are buried at Fenny Bentley:

Thank you Bumble,  that is brilliant it shows they are both buried there and it gives their death as well. I now know William died in 1923 and his address..

I looked at the map this morning and can see its a long way from here.

It might be an idea to contact the church to see if there is a grave register, indicating where the graves are located within the graveyard.  I've had success a couple of times where the Church Warden knew the locations, neither grave having a headstone, but at least I knew the area.

You can but ask the question  ;D

I have just spoken to a Beresford advertising on that web site who lives there and he said every now and again the Beresford from all over the world come there because it is the grave site formany Beresfords and he is going to go and have a look and send me photos if there is a gravestone. There is a picture of William's father Isaac on that site as well.

Those Fenny Bentley records show William Beresford died in Walton Sanatorium 23/4/1923 aged 56.

Yet I still can't find his registered death on FreeBMD.

Also I have him being born in 1871(Dec qtr 1871 Ashbourne 7b 505) which would make him 51.

Ermmmmmm  William died in 1928 not 1923, as per Fenny Bentley burial records:

Beresford,  William - Chesterfield Registration District 7c - June quarter 1928 - page 733 - aged 56
