I recently came across a forum discussion about my ancestor William Favell husband of Elizabeth Francis - the researchers name being Tazzie. I am as sure as I can be that this person was convicted of horse stealing and transported to Tasmania on the vessel Prince Regent. He was assigned to a Mr John Till in whose employ he served the required seven years to gain hiss ticket of leave. It is understood William died in Tasmania but we havent found any burial records

Hello Bob ......welcome to Rootschat.....

Alas my William as you saw on the above thread turned out to be in the UK and not the one accused and then transported.

I haven't been doing much on family trees lately so haven't looked further for any links.
My William had a son James he married Jane nee Coleman in 1845. Jane Favel is later arrested and charged with the murder of her daughter. After a long drawn out court case she acquitted of all charges. Papers across the country carried the story of "the Lamsey murder" it's also been included in a local history book. So I had an accused criminal after all.
Is there anything we can help with for you?

Tazzie
