For the past few years I have tried searching for this side of the family's history.
Edwin/Edward Beard Sr. (may be son of John Beard) born in Redbrook, Gloucestershire about 1829
-wife is Ann Mitchell born in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire in 1833 abt.
The following children:
- Ann M. Beard born Wolverhampton? about 1854
- Sophia Beard born Wolverhampton? about 1856
- John Beard born Wolverhampton? on 19 Feb 1857 later moved to Pennsylvania, USA
- James Beard born Dudley Port, Staffordshire? about 1859
- Edwin Beard Jr. born Wolverhampton? on 29 Dec 1862 later moved to Ohio, USA
- Lizzie? Beard born Heath Town, Staffordshire? about 1866 died about 1945
- Emma Beard born Heath Town? about 1869
- Clara Beard born Heath Town? about 1873
-
1871 (transcribed as Hard not Beard on Ancestry) has a slightly different order/age for some of the children, with CLara aged 5 and Lizzie aged 2
GRO suggests - all mother's maiden name Mitchell

Thank you Mabel! Do you have any idea on how to find Edwin's parentage? Because I cannot find one on Bmd or Ancestry.

Hi
Here's the marriage at Wolverhampton St James 8.8.1852
Edwin Beards 22 tin man Union St s of John Beard tin man
Ann Muchell 19 Union St Jesse Muchall nail maker
Ann made a cross
wit James Beards and Elizabeth Jones.
1851 Sun St Wolverhampton
John Beard 45 shearer of iron Saul Glouc
Ann 31 wife Bilston
Edwin 21 shearer if iron Glouc Redbrook
James 19 ditto
Mariann Simms wife's daughter 14 Bilston
John had remarried Ann Simms Dec 1850 at Wolverhampton registration district. Not sure which church.
1841 Newlands Redbrook Glouc
John Beard 40 shearer n
Susannah 65 n
Edwin 12 n
James 10 n
I'd guess John's second wife was Jane Wilton married Newland 25.3.1833
wit David Pike and Richard Morgan
She was buried 13.1.1834 age 29
First wife Ann was buried 21.1.1833 w if John Beard at Newland age 26 of Redbrook.
So I would go for a first marriage at St Briavels to Ann Wilton 16.11.1828
wit Sarah Hisburn? Thomas ?
John signed the first marriage but manages a very shakey signature on the second.
Ann Wilton 13.10.1805 at Brimpsfield d o Bartley and Lucy Ann Wilton
John Beard so Thomas and Sussannh at Saul 3.4.1800.
Buying that third marriage cert should confirm his Dad although that Susanna with him on the 1841 census would do for me.
Thomas buried Newlands of Redbrook 9.10.1833 age 62
ps found Edwin's baptism at the Non conf Wesleyian Chapel at Monmouth 4 Sep 1829 born 20 Aug 1829 of parish of Newland Gloucestershire
James same chapel 3/18 Oct 1831 shearer Rebrook Newland.

I'm working on these Wiltons. First the Ann you mention as daughter of Bartley and Lucy Ann is incorrect as the name is misspelled - it reads Wilson if one carefully checks the document.
Second John says he was born in St Briavels not Saul. I'm more inclined to think he's the son of James and Martha of the same village. I wonder if that Susannah Beard on the 1841 Census isn't an aunt of John's brother Edwin who witnessed Edwin's marriage certificate in Woolaston?
