Hi
Can anyone help as I'm not familiar with what UK records are available online.
Found the Sept 1882 birth of a William Charles Bonehill in Dudley in the Freebmd website but need to know were his parents Thomas and Mary. Also, is there any further information on this couple.
In my family, I have a William Bonhill (sic) living in Limerick, Ireland, but who was born in the UK around that time, to parents Thomas and Mary.
Any assistance would be wonderful.
Regards
LH

Mother’s maiden name is Twigger - does that fit with what you know?
-
Probably a child of Thomas Bonehill and Judith Annie Twigger, marr Aston, Sep qtr 1880.

Confirmed by his baptism at St Thomas, Dudley, 13 August 1882 - see Familysearch.

Thank you everyone.
No, the mother in my case was Mary Hannen (or similar) but their son was definitely William born c. 1882/3 in the UK.
Cheers

Yours married in 1910, I think, as William Thomas Bonhill (to Emma Frances Ellis, in Limerick)?
-
Perhaps this is him: Thomas William Bonehill, mmn Hanna, Jun qtr 1883 Bolton 8c 326.

Is this your William Bonhill ( from the lancs opc website https://www.lan-opc.org.uk/)
Baptism 1 June 1883 St James , New Bury , Farnworth , Lancs
William Thomas Bonehill of Thomas Bonehill and Mary
Abode : Union Workhouse
Occupation : Coachman
This appears to be the birth registration
William Thomas Bonehill A_J 1883 Bolton 8c 326
I note that the marriage certificate says Thomas Bonehill was a soldier.

Hi all
A million thanks as you seem to have found the correct one.
Is there any way of knowing what Abode - Workhouse meant? Could Mary have been working there or would you think she lived there due to hardship. How can I find out?
Yes, that's the correct lady who died in Limerick.
Kindest regards

Hello again
Is there any way of discovering which Workhouse my Mary was associated with?
Maybe I could then search records....if they exist.
Any snippet of help would be very gratefully received.
Thanks

I happen to be interested in this family too and have a copy of the birth certificate of Thomas William Bonehill. The Mother is shown on the birth certificate as Mary Bonehill formerly Hanna of Great Bolton. Where is Great Bolton and why mention it I wonder?
Other evidence I have indicates strongly that she was Mary Hannen born in Limerick, Ireland.
Any advice on this would be gratefully received.

Hi all
Thanks to Christine53, I now know Thomas and Mary Bonehill had a son-
William Thomas Bonehill
Baptism 1 June 1883 St James , New Bury , Farnworth , Lancs.
Abode: Union Workhouse
Mary (nee Hannan) had earlier given birth to a daughter (Mary) in Ireland in 1873 and we would like to know whether young Mary was also living at the Workhouse?
Do Workhouse records exist and which Workhouse??
Not being familiar with UK records, this is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Kindest regards
