Post by: SJW78 on Monday 17 September 18 14:14 BST (UK)
I am looking for a full transcript of the 1861 census for James Richard Salt. I have a part transcript which is incorrectly listed as James Rigd Sutt. Can anyone help?

Thanks for quick response. The info supports my other findings. I also have seen trees with William Salt marrying Jane Morris, but Edith Oldacre is seems favourite to me, as I belive Celiath is a misinterpretation of C Edith (Catherine Edith) who appears to have been named after grandmothers on each side.

You reply came through as I was about to post the info below.

So do you have William/Edith on Census? From what I have found they may have died young.

Also you mention Grandmothers on each side Edith/Catherine but info below I found is different?

What I had already typed up;

William may have remarried after the death of Edith;

EDITH Salt buried 23 Jan 1832, Church St Wesleyan Chapel, Oldbury
Age 31 years and 11 mths
Daughter of William/Sarah Oldacre
Born at Rugeley

OOh did William die young also?
I wonder who looked after the children?

WILLIAM Salt buried same Church as Edith 11 Nov 1833 age 36 years and 6 mths
Son of Rebecca Salt
Born in Gornal

The Vicar seemed have have kept great records.

Yes I have those records. James was apprenticed to John Dean, japanner, and Charlotte was a servant in the household. They married in Manchester 1846. I have an image of the marriage entry of the collegiate parish church in Manchester.
