Title: medal index card.
Post by: noxas on Thursday 20 September 18 19:29 BST (UK)
Hi all,
i am trying to locate a first world war medal card for Harold Stewart Bartlett, served in the Bedfordshire Yeomanry, ref. no 919. Any help would be much appreciated.

It's available on Ancestry ;D

If you don't have a subscription, maybe your local library offers free access to Ancestry?

pm sent

Service numbers on the card:
523311 RE
919 Bedf Yeo
30171 R R of Cav
523311 RE

Card stamped T.P.WAR.R.E.TPM3 (no idea what that means!)
VM and BWM - no Star, so not posted on active service until after 1915.

The TP in the stamp is actually TF (Territorial Force) and looks as if it refers to his additional service in 1919 with the Royal Engineers.  Whatever, it is an administrative stamp of no real significance.

Methinks 'tis time for me to get a bigger computer screen or new glasses!  TF it is.

It was one of those records passed through the "Make it difficult for our descendants" department in the War Office, see a lot of those  :)
