Title: Fenny Bentley Burials
Post by: Mansl on Thursday 20 September 18 19:55 BST (UK)
Please could someone look up two burials at the records office for me.

Sarah Ann Beresford died 9/11/1932

William Beresford died 23/4/1928

I have been to the Church but there isn't a gravestone.

Hello Spendlove. Thank you for your help, I already had this link but I assumed that is the date of their deaths  or do you think they are the burial dates.

Hi Alan

I gave you the connection direct to the Registers, however if you enter the site via
http://www.fennybentley.org.uk/history/4590542603

You will see on the right hand side “Church Registers” click on this and you will get various Registers
Bpt., marriages and burials.

When you select burials, Then click burials 1813 to 1991.  Page 1 of this set of records clearly states
BURIALS.

When finding things via google it is always best to check the source, in this case the village has gone to the trouble to transcribe the church Registers, this said you should also check the actual register yourself.

Hope this helps

Thanks for that Spendlove.

I know it says Burials but at the top left hand side it says Burials and underneath Burials it says Death in blacker ink that is why I thought it might be Death dates for those years.

In the earlier Burials it doesn't have Death it just says Date with the word Burials above at the top of the page.

I didn't obtain that link by Google I was sent the same link you sent me by BumbleB on here on another thread when I first enquired about the deaths. I had to start another thread because I was asking someone to look up the original at the records office so I could obtain the address Sarah died at.

Hi Alan

According to the Heading   History - Church Registers, compiled by Mr. B R.

I take this to mean transcribed by, in which case he has transcribed what it states in the register including headings.

You will not find actual address of the person in Parish Registers, for this  you need to purchase a death certificate this will give abode, Name, date and place of death, age, occupation, cause of death and who registered the death.

Thanks Spendlove, I think I have worked it out now by looking at the baptisms, which have Baptised and below Birth. The first date is the Baptism and on a line underneath highlighted is the birth date. So if they had the death date it would go underneath and be highlighted like the word Death.

Sarah Ann Beresford was my grandfather's stepmother that he disliked and never got on with, she was about 20 years younger than his father,  When his father died she was only forty. She ended up a widow in the workhouse in 1911, I always wondered what happened to her until and I found her married to William Beresford.
