A variation on taking secrets to the grave.
It reminds me of Dante Gabriel Rossetti placing his poems in his wife's coffin then exhuming her a few years later because he hadn't kept copies of the poems and wanted to publish them.

Do you have more on these people?

A notice in the Bedfordshire Times and Independent - Tuesday 17 January 1871 states that his will was proved on the 12th November 1870, in the District Registry of Her Majesty's Court of Probate at Winchester.

Hello All

How interesting Stan, somebody must have been convinced there was a Will or Codicil, written after that Proved Will.

Perhaps my George was buried in 1845 with an engraved watch ... to My Son George from .... Hood of ....

I've been thinking ....   ;D  :o

My mystery George's signature (of 16th May 1815, Married 18th July) is top left of this post, if anyone spots it on any document at all! Please?

I suspect things must have been a bit awkward in the family after that  :o

From the Shields Daily News - Thursday 28 September 1876
Apparently the documents found were only old love letters and no will was found.
