www.freebmd.org.uk shows they married in 1915 and www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk shows it was at St Andrews Drypool

With a surname like Taylor you would need to provide more info.  What does the W stand for?  What year was he born?

If he did die in WW1 than you can look for his death here - www.cwgc.org

Have you looked for a re-marriage for Margaret?  She was Margaret Ellen born 1896 mmn Myton

Their daughter, presumably?

Muriel Rose Annie Taylor, mother’s maiden name Bitton, birth reg Mar qtr 1916 Sculcoates.

Born 10 Feb 1916; death registered Oct 2003 North Yorkshire.

(Going on the dates, Margaret Ellen would have been pregnant at the time of the Sep qtr 1915 marriage).

He was George William Taylor (labourer) and served in the East Yorkshire Regiment, no 28754.

His Army service record notes his marriage to Margaret on 28 August 1915 at St Andrew’s, Hull, and the birth of Muriel on 10 February 1916.  Their home address was 8 Wilkinson Terrace, Beaumont St, Hull.

He enlisted in October 1916 aged 22 years 2 months, and was sent to France on 10 January 1917.

He was reported missing on 24 April 1917.

Margaret was told by letter dated 9 October 1917 that nothing further had been heard, and she was required to report any news she had of him.  She sent a very sad reply saying that she had heard nothing from him; that his “pal” in France had written to George’s sister saying that George was dead before being blown up, but the sister had destroyed the letter and the “pal” could not be traced as he was ill somewhere in France.

George’s service record shows that he was then included in a list of dead soldiers received by the War Office from Germany in November 1917, but this was treated as provisional and George was still “missing” when his wife was awarded a pension for herself and their child on 24 December 1917.  It looks as though he may have been formally declared dead in January 1918, but the relevant form was not fully completed so it is not very clear.

The daughter born 1923 possibly married in 1944 and then emigrated to Canada.  On a return visit to the UK in 1951 she had a 4yr old son born in Canada

There should be an Army death certificate indexed in GRO Overseas Events.  However it may be hard to identify the right one from the index - you will see from CWGC that there were several WW1 deaths of soldiers named George William Taylor in a relatively short space of time.

Also it is unlikely to tell you anything you don't know.  It looks as though his remains were never found so he was deemed to have died in the day he went missing - 24 April 1917.  I have a 1916 Army death certificate and information on it is sparse indeed, telling me nothing new.
