Looking for any descendants of Walter Daykins born 23rd Nov 1863, Wilton,Rox,Scotland, Died 20th October 1924, Buried Hillsborough Cemetery, Auckland, New Zealand, his relative Sgt John Brunton Daykins,VC,MM. of Jedburgh Scotland to be commemorated in Jedburgh later this month.

Sheila married Frederick Henry Coleman (now deceased) - Blaby - 3a 1337 - 1949
There is a Coleman - Gillard male birth in March 1953 Bristol - 7b 7.. which might be worth a look.

Probate Sgt John Brunton Daykins - Samuel Brunton Daykins his brother passed away 23 January 1940 and listed on the same headstone as the parents.
He was unmarried and his medals went to his sister. Elizabeth Daykins/ Elizabeth Rodgerson Swanston gave his medals to the York and Lancaster Regimental Museum which is within Clifton Park Museum, in Rotherham. (according to the Wikipedia link listed above by Janette.)

Hi Sandra, thanks for your reply, You have the correct family here, Walter Daykins age 17yrs,
His Brother James moved to Leicester.
I was hoping Walter may have married and had children but it doesn't look like it.
Walter and James Daykins father William(1836-1900) was the cousin of John Daykins(1854-1924) This John Daykins was the father of Sgt John B Daykins.

Hi Janette, thanks for your info, Sgt John B Daykins father was John Daykins (1854_1924), this John and Walters father William (1836-1900) were cousins, I was hoping to find a marriage or children for Walter but looks like he was single , thank you.
