Title: New BT Yahoo Mail
Post by: Roobarb on Thursday 04 October 18 18:09 BST (UK)
Once again they've changed BT Yahoo Mail, I can't actually see any benefit in what they've done, I wish they'd just leave it alone.  >:(  What it has done is change the layout once again and I have a narrow list of my emails with a pane at the right hand side where the logo (where applicable) and email address of the sender appear. I really don't want this! I previously found how to change this so that the list was wide but the options don't appear to be the same now. There's an arrow where I can make the list wider but as soon as I open an email and go back to the list it reverts to the narrow view. Maybe a petty thing but it's already driving me mad.  :(

Does anyone please have any idea how I can permanently alter this? (I tried going back to Classic View but that's not satisfactory either).

I'm glad I moved my auntie over to an offline mail reader a couple of years ago.

She's 92 now, and the random changes of layout confused her, so a single set of training to something I thought would work for her has reduced the number of phone calls considerably.

Have a look at Thunderbird, which has been around for donkeys' years now.

Going to an offline reader has the additional benefit of removing those annoying ads from your mail experience.

Agree. I transferred my emails to Thunderbird years ago. It's easy to use & does want you want.

Not sure whether I can be bothered to do that, too much of a nuisance to change my email address for the sake of a column layout. But thanks anyway.  :)

You don't change your email address. Thunderbird gets your emails from Yahoo & opens them in their app.
You can transfer your contacts as well.

Thunderbird is a program that sits on your computer and you use it to view your email. Using it doen't mean changing who provides you with your email service, just how you view it.

BTW - I am on BT Internet and my mail hasn't changed. Still looks the same as before :)

So is mine.  I hardly use it but had a look in when I saw Roobarb's post.  It looks much as it's done for ages.

You obviously didn't try to use BT webmail from about midday yesterday until midday today. It was virtually impossible to login as they'd made a mess of an upgrade. The internet had loads of complaints about BT incompetence (again).

OH uses it nearly all the time and has not had any problems either yesterday or today, so not sure what you're suggesting.

It's not a suggestion, it's a fact! Have a look at the following :-

Maybe but he's not had any problems and is a heavy user.

Added - I see that the first person was told to clear his cache, cookies and history and reported back that it worked. Others are saying that only some are affected.
