Hi
I would appreciate a wee bit of help locating the siblings of Mary Farrell, Mary was born 24 Feb 1891 at 43 English Place/Square Coatbridge. Mary's parents were James Farrell and Ann Kane i think they married 27 Jul 1890 in Coatbridge.
Mary married Edward McMahon 13 Nov 1912 Craigneuk Dalziel. Mary Died 13 May 1936 at 16 Portwell, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
I am dont know anything about her parents or siblings
Kind Regards

Hi Flip
A good way to try to expand on the family is look at the censuses.
This looks to be Mary with family in 1891:
James Farral 36 Iron Worker b. Ireland
Ann Farral 30 b. Ireland
Stephen Farral 8 b. Old Monkland, Lanark
Mary Farral 1Month b. Old Monkland, Lanark
Address: 67 Dundyvan Rd, Coatbridge
Looks like a second marriage for either James or Ann?

Have you got a copy of the marriage certificate? If not, go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and invest in some credits. use some of them to download an image of the certificate.
This will tell you, among other things, where Mary was residing at the time of her marrage, and whether or not either of her parents was deceased.
Armed with this, find the listing of Mary in the 1911 census and use a few more credits to download a copy of it. With luck, this will list her siblings, and if both parents were still living it will tell you how many children they had had together and how many were still living.

No birth reg for a Stephen Kane or Farrell. If Ann was previously married to a Kane then Stephen may have been born before that marriage and registered under her maiden name
You need to check the 1901 and 1911 censuses for other siblings born after 1891
-
1901 and maybe something has happened with mother Ann or just not with family?
William Foster 38 Cotton Mill Card-room Hand b. Canada
Nellie Foster 44 b. Edinburgh
Stephen Farrell 20 boarder Cotton Mill Card Room Hand b. Wishaw
James Farrell 42 visitor Iron Work Labourer b. Ireland
Marie Farrell 10 visitor b. Coatbridge

There is the death in 1901 in Lanark for an Ann Kane/Farrell, aged 39. Might be worth you checking to confirm if this is Mary's mother?
Guessing you have the 1890 marriage reg you mentioned which will also help you to reconfirm her parents' names?

I wonder if Stephen could have been the Archibald Steven Farrel born in Dalziel district in 1881.Then again, possibly not, as I've just noticed that you said James and Ann married in 1890.
-
There is also an entry in the 1901 census for an Annie C Farrell, aged 38 and born Ireland. She shows as a patient at Lockhart Hospital in Lanark.
Monica
-
Scotmum, that possible birth you have in Dalziel could fit as Stephen shows a birth place of Wishaw in 1901.

1881 in Dalziel:
James Farl 25 Iron Puddler b. Ireland
Annie Farl 22 b. Ireland

There's an 1874 marriage in Old Monkland district that's a possibility (Cane rather than Kane).
-
That is a better fit.
Flip, where did the 1890 marriage date come from?
Monica
-
In 1871, there is an 18yr old James Farrell lodging at the Dowine household in Old Monkland. He shows as an iron puddler by trade.

Assuming that Flipside has Mary's birth certificate, that is where the date and place of her parents' marriage must have come from. If Flip doesn't have that birth certificate, the next step is to get a copy.
-
If James was 36 in 1901, he wasn't old enough to marry in 1874.
Ah, but then he was 36 in 1891, not 1901.
-

Ah, but then he was 36 in 1891, not 1901.
Yes, realised that and have corrected previous post. 19 and 16 is still very young to marry, but not impossible.

. LOCKHART HOSPITAL, LANARK (closed 2016) Lockhart Hospital was originally built as a fever hospital in 1889

On Mary's marriage record 1912 does it state both parents were still living?
-

I read them as
Archibald Farrell
Brickburner (deceased)
Sarah Ann Keegins
formerly Farrell
Maiden surname O'Neill
James Cane
Shoemaker journeyman
Margaret Cane
Maiden surname Carrigan.

Ann Kane Farrell's death
As she is described as a 'pauper' it would be worth investigating what information you can glean from the Parochial Board records (Poor Law).
Start here https://www.glasgowfamilyhistory.org.uk/ExploreRecords/Pages/Poor-Law.aspx
If Ann's records have survived they may tell you in which parish in Ireland she was born.

There is a marriage record in Ireland, Seagoe, County Armagh

Noting from the 1874 marriage reg that it was an RC marriage, there looks to be at least one RC baptism showing for Annie and James:
Archibald FARRELL
Parents JAMES FARRELL/ANN CANE
b. 16/6/1877 and chr. 30/6/1877
at Coatbridge, St Patrick's, Lanark

Archibald Farrell
Brickburner (deceased)
Sarah Ann Keegins

Maiden surname O'Neill
There is a death in Dalziel, Lanarkshire in 1911 that might fit for James' mother as she showed as remarried in his marriage reg in 1874:
Sarah Ann KEEGANS/Farrell/O'Neill, aged 75.
Age maybe a little light?

Archibald Farrell death 1866

I wonder if Sarah Ann's marriage might have been mis indexed?
There is this marriage showing:
Peter Keegan and Sarah Donnelly
2 May 1870 in Old Monkland,Lanark
There is this entry in 1871 - as transcribed:
Peter Kergan 33 Labourer In Iron Works b. Ireland
Sarah A Kergan 41 b. Ireland
Mara Kergan 7 b. Coatbridge, lanarksh*
James Kergan 42
An Kergan 37
Jane Kergan 8
Ether Kergan 3
Margaret Kergan 3 Months
Henry Mccrady 48
Address: 96 Burghill 4th Rod, Wishaw
* I think this is Mary, daughter of Archibald Farrell and Sarah Ann on 8 November 1862
OLD MONKLAND, LANARK.
If it is the correct marriage entry for Sarah Ann, it will hopefully help you fill in the blanks in respect of her parents' names.

i came across on ancestry these files last night, her marriage is very difficult to make out
-
I saw the trees, Flip. Something for you to follow up there with the details they show.
The marriage of Mary shows her as a domestic servant, residing at Cleland Townhead Newarthill. The names under her name are the witnessess to the marriage and show again on a further column to the right.
