I am looking to find the burial site for my great=uncle, Walter Hague. No middle initial according to Aust.BDM. He was the son of Walter Hague and Hannah Cook, born 12 February, 1898 (confirmed) and died 30 May, 1991(not confirmed).
In a newspaper article I came across (I don't have the name or date of the newspaper), Wally was in the Peninsula Private Hospital for his 95th birthday. He was also the oldest member of the Deception Bay RSL. Because of the year, 1991, Queensland BDM has been unable to confirm anything. I wrote to both the hospital and the RSL asking for dates and any information, but no response.
I am trying to confirm his date of death and where he is buried. Many of his family were born and buried in Townsville, but because he was at Deception Bay, I don't know whether he ended up in Brisbane or Townsville.
I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks! :)

Hi,
He is not listed on the Brisbane cemetery index nor the Ryerson index of newspaper notices. But there are other sites I shall search.

Thanks for taking the time. Much appreciated.

Not listed on the cemeteries connected to Deception Bay. I suggest you search Townsville Cemetery site as the burial records there are in PDF form and time consuming. Then of course he could have been cremated which sets up another lot of sites to search. I shall search again later in the day.

I did search Townsville cemeteries, including Belgian Gardens where most of the family is buried. Nothing. I also checked Ayr and Charters Towers, also where family is buried. I am just hitting a blank all around.

I see from his army record he was single but has listed unmarried wife (quaint) and her name as next of kin. Perhaps you could search for her burial. Her address was Banyo which is a northern suburb of Brisbane. I must go a have breakfast.

Mary Harriet Wyatt died in 1944 and supposedly, he was married again, but I have absolutely NO information on the second wife. Have a nice breakfast.

Thanks. I am not having much success with elusive Walter. Hopefully a relative will luck onto your post.

He may have been cremated at Mt Thompson.
Send them an email. They are very helpful.

I found the obit for Hannah Hague in 1953 and her son, Walter was living in Deception Bay then.

Yes, it seems Wally lived between Townsville and Deception Bay for many many years. I have been going through all the electoral rolls, and the latest residence I have is the Peninsula Private Hospital where he celebrated his 95th birthday.

If he was born in 1898 his 95th birthday should be in 1993? Of course we all know that ages given on records are not always correct. :-\
