I would love to find more about the Hugh Bailey and Sarah Connel family from Stradbally Armagh. The children's parents were Hugh and Sarah nee Connel. The above children immigrated to Sydney NSW Australia in 1841 and the girls later in 1855.I would like to know what happened to the parents and were there other siblings in the family?

Hugh and Sarah nee Connel
I could not find a townland place or parish named Stradbally anywhere in Co Armagh
its well known in Co Laios which was called Queens County see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_Laois County Laois is a county in Ireland. It is located in the south of the Midlands Region and is also located in the province of Leinster, and was formerly known as Queen's County.
initially I found in Co Laois http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
bailey/ bayley produces no results
entering Connel and many variants eg Conal still ony produced
Connel John Ballenakill Ballynakill Laois
Connel Roger Ballenakill Ballynakill Laois
Connell John Ballinakill Ballynakill Laois
the above and below question the record, can anyone explain to me
then I switched to Queens County

the last three have every chance of being where the Connels came from if you look at a map eg https://www.johngrenham.com/browse/county_civil.php?county=Laois
Stradbally is 49 , surrounded by
19 Dysartenos
32, Kilteale
36, Moyanna
16, Curraclone
7, Ballyadams
52 Timogue
so the pair are unlikely to be from the surrounding parishs but a bit further away

Who arrived 1841, and what ship please.
Who arrived 1855, and what ship please.
Do you have marriage details for them.
I would think there was a son Hugh, named after father.

Hugh Bailey, aged 88, died in Ballycarroll, MountMellick in 1878 - he was widower and a farmer
There seems to be quite a few records to Hugh Bailey in the Maryborough petty sessions court records - but I don't have a subscription to view these

Hi Shylie Brown,
The topic you keep reporting had already been moved shortly after the time you posted to the correct place. ;)

Think this topic belongs on LAOIS/QUEENS board- not Armagh ;)

Thank you for answering my query. Christopher was a protestant (attended Presbyterian Church) and arrived in July 1841 Sydney, Australia on the ship "Helen", his sister Sarah came with him but on the "Herald" . The shipping record states both Christopher and Sarah are from Stradbally Queens County. Hugh and Sarah nee Connel were their parents. The other children, Isabelle, Jane and Eleanor arrived on the ship "Eliza " in 1855. Is there a way I can find the birth dates of all the children. All of the Bailey's who arrived in Australia were single and married here.
