Title: Douglas Barnett - WW2: 684th Gen. Con. Company Royal Engineers
Post by: WendyLou on Friday 12 October 18 08:21 BST (UK)
Hi

I am trying to find out any information relating to my husband's father's service in the Army. As was so common, his father did not speak of his time in the service, and we could not find any documentation after his death.

I have a few details from his "Permission to Marry" note ... but cannot seem to find anything else. I am in Australia, so cannot pop into the Archives Office!!!!

His details are:

Service number: 1913820
Sapper Douglas Albert Barnett
684th Gen. Con. Company. Royal Engineers

He was at Garelochead Camp in April 1942, and he was wounded in France. I have no other details - not date even of enlistment, nor discharge.

If someone could help out with further information, we would be very grateful.

TIA, Wendy

You won't find his record on line - it is still held by the Ministry of Defence.  The process for applying is here:
