Post by: MosesKinne on Monday 15 October 18 20:36 BST (UK)
Hi,

I‘m looking for the marriage and baptism of John Marden and Sarah. They  had a child named Elizabeth Marden born 1772 in Worth Sussex . I can only find a marriage between a John Marden and Hannah Huggett 1771 in Surrey .

Hope someone can help

regards

Allowing for spelling variations, FreeReg has 3 marriages in Sussex:
John MARTIN m Sarah PERRY 17 Mar 1745 Edburton (20 miles from Worth)
John MARTEN m Sarah TIDEY 22 Jan 1760 Ifield (5 miles from Worth)
John MARTIN m Sarah PENFOLD 11 Jun 1765 Pulborough (23 miles from Worth)

The Ifield marriage might be a possible.

How do you know she was born in Worth?   I cannot find a baptism there.   Did they have other children?

Did she marry James FULLER 18 Apr 1797 Worth?

As sillgen said she could not have been born there.

I see her Burial  04 Dec 1853 St Nicholas, Worth, age 84, but havent found 1851 Censu where she is born Worth?

Trish :)

Were James/Elizabeth in Burstow, Surrey 1841 Census?
Both not born in County.

James buried 23 Nov 1843, St Nicholas, Worth age 75, abode Burstow, Surrey on record.

Still trying to find her in 1851 to establish if that Bapt is her.

Then we can try and find her Parents/siblings conclusively.

Elizabeth seems to be in Worth in 1851, with married daughter Mary?
And there is a death of an Elizabeth Fullex in East Grinstead in Dec 1853, age 85
Burial at Worth, 4 Dec 1853, age 84. That's on image 684

I think I must have been referring to marriage of Mary Fullex and John Cramp in Brighton, 19 May 1822
And Mary has her mother Elizabeth Fulix with her in Worth in 1851? Who is 81, born Worth.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your help , all the named information are correct . Elizabeth Marden(Mardin) was baptised 1772 in Worth and her brother George on the 17th of May 1775 both with parents John and Sarah Marden. There are other baptism in Worth with parents John and Hannah Marden

Mary 25 Oct 1777
Martha 20 Oct 1779
Sarah 20 Oct 1779
Jane 10 Feb 1785

It could be the same John Marden but with different wives. Philip listed three marriages in Sussex but I‘m not sure which one is the right one or maybe none of them

a few minutes ago i saw the image of the marriage of James Fullex(Fuller) to Elizabeth Marden, where two witnesses with the surname Huggett are named. (marriage 1797 Worth)

John Marden who married Hannah HUGGETT 1771 in Surrey had children with her in Worth Sussex , the fact that there’s no marriage of a John Marden to a Sarah leads me to think that Hannah called herself Sarah? on the baptism of her first two children ? John died as John Morden 1817 age 84 and Hannah 1813 age 74.

I really want to solve the mystery  :-[
