Title: Occupier of house
Post by: Spidermonkey on Thursday 25 October 18 18:52 BST (UK)
I have tried and tried until I am ready to throw the laptop out of the window, but I cannot seem to find Matilda Street, off the Old Bethnal Green Road, on the 1841 census.

I would really appreciate someone else having a glance to see if they can find the street (specifically, I want the occupier of number 14, but I am happy just to have the street located on the census).

Hopefully, this link https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=17&lat=51.5312&lon=-0.0594&layers=168&b=1 will show the location of Matilda Street on the OS map.  If it doesn't work, Matilda Street is on the north side of Old Bethnal Green Road, pretty much opposite St Jude's Church and school.

Thank you in advance,

S.

You should be able to find it via this page:

http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20121228200517/http://yourarchives.nationalarchives.gov.uk/index.php?title=Help:Census_Street_searches

Note that you need to know which registration district it was in. As I don't know that, I didn't go searching to check that it was there.
