Just fill in as best as you can.... year ranges too
Not too difficult and after finding the first few yourself, if you can, it will teach you how easy they are to use.
Once you learn you can return and search at your leisure as and when you like.

I have found a William Davin born abt 1849 Callan, Co Tipperary, I would also definitely say they were RC, he married in Liverpool in 1875 his wife Annie Phelan was also born in Callan abt 1856.
Thanks
Karen

Even if you only put the Surname in, Callan 1870 - 1880 tick marriages you can look for siblings marrying etc. at your leisure
Or Parents Deaths etc.

Thank you very much for your help hallmark & sinnan, I will have a search through see what I can find (you'll probably hear from me again soon 🙈)

Thanks hallmark, I think I'll have to do a lot of research on this one, I think Annie Phelan's father was Patrick ( unsure as the marriage licence is in Latin ) so I will have a search on that to start.
Thanks
Karen

Just had a quick look at registers.... there are worse!!
At least the child's name is in left column so you can just scroll looking at that column.
-
I've just searched DAVIN in CALLAN with no dates, it returned one death and one birth 🙈🙈🙈, this is going to be hard work haha

Haha definitely, I'm not as clever and clued up as most of you on here
-
Where did Ann die?
-
Ann Phelan died in Liverpool, by the looks of it Ann and William both born in Callan, left Ireland and went to Liverpool and married in 1875
-
Hopefully if it attaches, this is the marriage licence of William Davin & Ann Phelan
-
Where did you get Callan from?
-
It's on the 1911 census from Liverpool
-
Just posting a Link to
C Reg Death results for Thomas Devin

Yes, as I have nothing of certainty it's all just guess work, I might just have to start a thread with the surnames I have, see if anyone out there can help with anything.
Very grateful for all your help hallmark
Thanks

Thanks hallmark, the info is so scarce
-
That is why it's worth your time researching them for yourself at leisure rather that have a few bits posted
on
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
if your learn how to search then you can study them at your Leisure, return as and when you like, look for siblings marrying etc etc which may lead you to kin living today!
You can e.g. look for Marriages 1864 to 1869....then next Marriages 1870 to 1875 etc etc by just filling in Search box accordingly

-
Just fill in what you want accordingly....

Toolkit Top Tip
Don't ignore siblings!
Apart from adding depth and extra colour and personality to your Irish family history, members of this extended family might have left behind important records that your direct ancestor didn't.
-
That will be my next mission, I sat last night searching through birth records for Breen born between 1871 - 1890 , I found 5 siblings of Mary Anne Breen, but she has a brother living with her called James in 1901 that I can find no birth record of.
You have been heaps of help with your info and wisdom, thanks hallmark
Karen
-
Excellent!
My tip would be...
when you see the List of results
right click on about 3 names and select Open in New Tab
Check those 3 to see if they are siblings or not. Close any that are not
then right click on about 3 more names and select Open in New Tab
Much quicker as you have results page still there!!
-
Great tip, I wouldn't of thought of doing that 👍🏻
-
you may find the Breen's and Blake's here
http://census.nationalarchives.ie/search/cl/index.jsp
-
Thanks for the link dathai , I'll have a search through and see if I can work anything out from it
Karen
-
Yes, that would have been the next step I would have advised once you had built up the base on Civil Reg then you'd know which ones to search for based on Births/Marriages found late 1800's, names, ages.
In 36 hours you've gathered 6 or 7 siblings etc, marrying 1870's.
I would have advised working births for these first on Civil Reg....then look on Census as it can become very confusing but up to you. ;D You'll find yourself trying to link 2 ends of a chain instead of doing them step by step by step forward in time!

Mary Anne Blake
Born 27/12/1849,baptized 28th.

-
Robert Joseph Breen
Born and baptized 28/3/1847
Parents: John Breen and Ellen Meath
Several siblings.
-
The Shipping Crew Lists at the National Archives show many, many records for John Breen of Wexford.

Easy. The Wexford parish registers. The informaton already posted says that they were from Wexford.
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634138#page/171/mode/1up (https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634138#page/171/mode/1up)

As I mentioned, there are also siblings. I am sure you can also find parents marriages, etc.
-
As both Messrs Blake and Breen were sailors, you might wish to take a look at the three volume "Martime History of Co. Wexford", by John Power. In particular, Vol. I, 1859-1910.
A quick glance shows references to Blakes and Breens in the 1860s.

Thank you for this wexflyer, I can see I'm going to be busy lol
