Hi,
I am helping a friend with research into her family and we are stuck on a line. Her 4x times great grandfather was named Samuel Dickens born in 1837 in Pownall Fee to a Samuel Dickens or Dicken who was married to a woman named Hannah. We have found them in the 1841 and 1851 census, but can find absolutely no trace of a marriage between them. It’s interesting to see that their first son was born in 1837 when Samuel was about 56 years old and Hannah was about 41. If anyone can help find a marriage between these 2 we would be very greatful!
Thank you
Erin

March quarter 1838 - Altrincham RD - Samuel Dicken. However, I cannot find the GRO entry to verify mother's maiden name. The entry is also out of sync with alphabetical listing.
Samuel was baptised on 15 April 1838 in the parish of Wilmslow - son of Samuel (a farmer) and Hannah of Styal. Information from Cheshire BTs.

Thank you for that, it’s been a very frustrating line to research can’t find Hannah’s maiden name anywhere!

You may have to see if you can purchase Samuel's birth certificate to find the mother's surname.

First son implies there were more? Have you got the name of another son we can look up the birth for? **
** James Dicken born c1840 but can't find his birth reg either :(

Hi
Looking at the 1851 census Hannah gives her PoB as Bramhall, Cheshire c1796, in the PR's for Stockport there is this
Hannah daughter of Nath(aniel) and Mary Faulkner bapt 25 Sept 1796 of Bramall. Below is a clip from the baptism which I presume is giving the date she was born - although I'm not sure what it says - is it the 16th inst. ?
Nathaniel FAULKNER married Mary BROWN at St. Mary Stockport on 12 June 1796.
