I’m looking to find out more about my family tree and also get a copy of my Grandad’s birth certificate or baptismal record. My Grandads name was Patrick Joseph Monaghan, born around 1895, Great Grandad was Patrick Monaghan and Great Grandma was Mary Anne Butler. I know from the 1911 census my Great Grandad and Nan lived in number 25 James Street in Westport, County Mayo when my Grandad was 15 but were in listed in two separate houses (number 35 and number 29} in James Street in 1901. I can’t find any records of my Grandads birth but I can see his eldest sister Margaret Mary Monaghan was born on 05th June 1893 and this was also recorded living in James Street and district Westport. Sort of hit a brick wall so wondering if anyone can help?

You also have https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1043 Aughaval for pre 1864 records

I can’t see a birth for Patrick nor a death for Mary Ann.
If you can’t see a birth, perhaps you could contact the church for a baptism check.

Thank you, yes have tried myself and a few others but nothing found or returned for my Grandad Patrick Monaghan at all anywhere which is a bit frustrating. I’m not sure if his birth was registered for some reason to be honest but can’t find any baptismal records online either but maybe as you say if I contact the Church direct they move have some record. Can only find one Catholic Church St Mary’s at Westport?

Online baptisms only go to 1880 - Hallmark gave you a link so yes, St Mary’s would likely be the right Church.

Thanks both, I’ll give them a bell tomorrow and let you know how I get on

Just a quick update to say after about 2 years of trying I finally got the Baptism certificate for my Grandad from St Mary’s. Made up and just in the process now of registering as a late birth to get the long form birth certificate and hopefully get that sorted a bit quicker. Thanks for the help, defo appreciated.
