Hello,
I've found this Marriage record for my Great Uncle in New York in 1930. I would like to try to locate the family on the USA Census collection, but can't see them. I would really appreciate it if anyone on here can see them.
Cheers, Romilly.

Thanks so much Sandra, for all of the info, - greatly appreciated.
I wonder what happened to Norman Claude Warren, Born 1906 in Hastings, Sussex, England? (He doesn't seem to be with his Wife and children on that Census). I suppose it's quite possible that he was away with the Armed Forces in 1940?
He was sent to Canada in 1921 as a 'British Home Child' by the NCH in London:
Name: WARREN
Given Name: Norman Claude
Age: 15 Sex: M
Ship: Megantic
Y ear of Arrival: 1921
Departure Port: Liverpool
Departure Date: 21 July 1921
Arrival Port: Quebec
Party: Dr. Stephenson's
Destination: Hamilton, Ontario
Comments: Each child on different film
Source: Library and Archives Canada Reference: RG 76, 30A Cards
Type of Record: Other Government of Canada records Group of Children Traveling Together.
The last sighting of him was a letter he wrote from New York to the National Children's Home in London in 1929 requesting a copy of his Birth or Baptismal Certificate. They sent it, but it was returned to sender as 'Unknown at this address'. However, the 1930 Marriage is definately him, because he names his parents.

Would you have an exact date of birth for him. There are a few of the same name. ???

Just looking Sandra, - I know it was February 1906, - will see if I can find the day... (I'll have to dig out his NCH File, - it will be on there).
I see from my notes that Norman Claude was actually Born in Greenwich, London in February 1906, and his younger brother Ernest Henry Warren was Born in Hastings, Sussex in September 1907.
Their father Ernest Henry Warren (my Great Grandfather) died in 1916 of TB when he was 36, leaving his widow with 8 children, including twin baby boys. She gave some of her children up to the National Children's Home, hoping to reclaim them when she was able, but they were sent to Canada.
Also, - On the Death Cert of Amy Eliza CAMPBELL, formerly WARREN, nee DUFFIN, (Norman Claude Warren's Mother) he is listed as Deceased. (Australian Death Cert). Amy Eliza died in 1959.
The informant was Terence Walter Warren, who was Norman Claude Warren's brother.
And so Norman Claude Warren Died before 1959.

Sandra
It was 30 January 1906 Sandra.

-
The name Norman Warren with the birth date 30 January 1906 does not appear on the SSDI (social security death index which was up and running by 1962/63) It could possibly indicate he passed away before that date. ???

Thanks to the wonders of DNA testing, - it has now become apparent that Norman Claude Warren and Michael Dow St Croix, both Born 30th January 1906, must have been the same person.
Myself and my Warren Uncle both have DNA matches to the descendants of Michael Dow St Croix, - but this could never have been uncovered without DNA testing.

Yes please Sandra,- I'd be very interested to see that!
Thank you so much for all of your help; which is greatly appreciated. (American records are tricky for me). I think that he says, on previous records that he was Born in California... but I bet that there is no Birth Record to be found there for him.

Its nice to break down those brick walls. It was a rather sensitive one. I did read of someone else a Steven St Croix - (born Stephen Curtis Marshall) (1948–2006) - he loved the Caribbean islands, hence the name "St. Croix" which refers to Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
