Her normal run seems to have been from Avonmouth to Montreal but she was owned by a subsidiary of the Canadian Northern Railway so I imagine that the family were booked for onward travel by train.

Most unusual name. That is certainly one that I was never asked to put on the red part of the map at school.  Since the offer is there ,how about Oneida or should it be Queida? Thanks to you all. T

Please give some context for this last question as there are plenty of ONEIDAs in Canada, that name being one of the tribes of the Six Nations.

Cheers,
Westoe

Quite right Westoe.
A Mrs. Adams sailed 2nd class on the St. Paul on 8th March 1913. The book entry does not show the ship's destination ( probably New York). The entry adds "Full fare to 'Oneida' paid £11..9..11.
District of Canada is not shown which is unusual in this book.
In the event it appears she tranferred to the Majestic sailing on 12 March.  T

How about Oneida New York??  It is in Oneida county - in the middle of New York State

I think you may have it RunKitty. The St. Paul was on the N.Y. run as was the Majestic.
On reflection, I should not have assumed Canada even though most of the entries were for travel to Canada. T

Frances H. Adams 62, widow, with last British address of Swindon and British contact daughter Mrs. Chilton, Salsibury JRoad Swindon arrived on the Majestic with a destination of Oneida New York - to a daughter Mrs. ?aslen - I can't really make out the last name.  I'm assuming she is daughter Amy Grace but I can't pull up anything else to help clear up the last name.  She appeared to have a marriage in 1907 to either Illsley or Goodship

That's marvelous cosmac. I now have much more than I had drempt of.
When she booked her ticket on 22 Feb. 1913 , she was living at 53, Salisbury Street, Swindon,Wiltshire. She paid £11..9..11d for the full fare to Oneida.
Thanks, Toby.

Here is a little more to wind things up.
Frances Harwood Adams was born in about 1851 in Boston, Lincs. Her husband George appears to have died in late 1911 aged 57. They had lived for some while in Medgbury road, Swindon. The Salisbury Road address may therefore be of a daughter  or d. in law. Frances nee Hamer married in 1875 and had 6 children of which 4 were living in 1911. Isaac H, Sara C, Amy G, & John W. She had a son in law Henry George Illsey. Also in 1911 at 47, Salisbury road, Swindon was Frances Chilton .

Sarah must have been the daughter in America then as there is a marriage in 1907 for Amy Grace to an Illsey.

The link doesn't work.  It was for FamilySearch.org New York arrivals.  You can find it using Frances H. Adams.

Daughter surname transcribed as Maslen - you find that on the 2nd page of the record

Maslen is a step forward. I have not found her marriage in the UK, but ,of course, it may have been in NY.
