Looking for John Harrison's Parents. He was born 1881 in Prescot & died in Colliery accident in 1917. I have found him in 1911 Census, married with one Son. Derby Square, Prescot, Lancashire would appear to be a link. I have searched FindMyPast, GR, Family Search & Freereg & FreeBMD without success as there are many John Harrisons. He may have had a Sister Ann (Annie). Any help or guidance would be helpful. Thankyou, Marianne

Do you have his marriage cert? 1911 should say how long married. That will have his father’s name (hopefully) and occupation
Please tell us the name of his wife and son. And give the 1911 census references
-
if I found the right couple in 1911 it would appear that John married Margaret Barrow in 1905 at St Mary Prescot.
-
I may be barking up the wrong tree here but the 1901 Census has
RG13/3517/F89/p4
20 Derby Street, Prescot
John Harrison 20 unm. Copper Wire Splicer Prescot
Ann Harrison sister 15 unm. Machine Minder Watch Factory Prescot
Ellen Murray mother marr. 42 Prescot
I realise the occupation doesn't match.
Looking on the GRO site I can find both a John and an Ann Harrison born on the appropriate dates with mmn Fairhurst
There is a marriage June 1881 Prescot 8b 998 between a Reuben Harrison and an Ellen Fairhurst
also
Ellen Fairhurst/Peter Murray Sep 1897 Prescot 8b 1122

Hi emeltom,
Did she marry as Ellen Fairhurst?
I am wondering if I am on the wrong track but think we have the same family in 1901.

I have found the Harrison/Murray marriage now 1897
Ellen Fairhurst looks to have married someone else.
-
Thankyou everyone for your replies. I will order the Marriage Cert as I too believe he married Margaret Barrow. Mining appears to be the common factor but maybe a job change was necessary. Thankyou again, Mariannel

Thankyou again, everyone. The marriage cert does not give the Father's name nor occupation! JH address is 18 Derby Street, MB address is 68 Derby Street. His occupation is Electric Welder & hers is Housekeeper. Her Father is a Watchmaker. However, I am confident now, I have the correct people but have now to find the same Mother to both John & Ann Harrison. Not quite got there yet but your help has been amazing. I, too found the Morton connection but it is not a name that runs in the family to my knowledge. I also found an Ellen Harrison marrying Peter Murray in Sept 1897 Thankyou, mariannel
