Title: Transported convicts
Post by: Bay89 on Wednesday 07 November 18 13:39 GMT (UK)
Hi I I'm wondering if there's any good resources or if anyone knows of an archive where I could look up convicts sentenced for transport to the colonies. I really appreciate any and all information that you can help me with I would be very thankful. I'm looking specifically at the year 1635 only because the ship 'Safety' left from the London port August 1635. John Gruant was the Ship Master he was also a merchant. I'm also hoping to at least find a contract for him to transport convicts for those sentence for transport. My direct descendant, John Bay age 16 was transported to the colony of Virginia on the ship. I believe he landed in Norfolk, Virginia.
