Wife was widowed at this 1935 marriage. Born 1894. Previous husband d 1932. [Sidney Moreton Diamond) they had married in 1922
I see no Diamond or Haste extras at same addresses on electoral rolls 1946 to 1969.
Relevant newspapers not on Papers Past.
NZ cemeteries index just details interment of Sidney, no names of children.
-
Winifred Lucy May HASTE died 1/7/1974. I think this would be the best death notice to locate, just in case they were without children. Interestingly she was also from Hamilton at the time. http://cemeterybase.hdc.govt.nz/Details.aspx?id=HN3358
-
Interestingly there is a HASTE birth listed in 2001 in the Hawkes Bay area.

Will of Sydney Moreton Diamond, Wife and then to his nieces and nephews
-
There is a will for Winifred at Auckland Archives.
-
Newspaper notices obtained.
No next of kin nor relatives apart from James mentioned in Winifred's death notice.
3 living sisters mentioned in James'.
Happy to email notices to anyone.
-
Has anyone emailed the man in the article to tell him?
-
Yes, just told him about this thread and passed on the 2 death notices.
-
:)
-
James' WW1 service file lists his mother as next of kin, so perhaps tracing siblings and then descendants is possible?

-

-
Mabel Alice married 1932 Henry George SKELTON
Added - Death 1996
1996/44011 Skelton Mabel Alice 31 August 1904
-
Doris, Alice and Leila were noted on the death notice for James along with 'Mirry'.
[I hadn't checked their DOB or DOD so didn't post the names.]
Seems like the family liked to play around with names a bit, with James known as Bert.
-
I don't see any children in electoral rolls so far
No idea who Mirry might be.
Added - they were all in their 30s when they married. Except Mabel who was 28, so perhaps most chance of offspring there?
-
James's DOB was listed as 20th February 1895 in the typed Attestation, and 22nd February 1895 in the History sheet.
-
This now private online family tree website has the parents listed.
"Hedley Vicars Haste + Mary Louise Moore"
http://www.ourfamilytree.co.nz/
Perhaps contact with the owner might further the search?
-
James's DOB was listed as 20th February 1895 in the typed Attestation, and 22nd February 1895 in the History sheet.
And 12 feb 1894 on death reg!
Added, and if you do the narrows down thing on the births you get to 12 Feb 1894 for the NR birth
-
Here is the family as you have already found out: http://www.rootschat.com/links/01n0m/
[The same owner as in previous post.]
-
Mirry is probably Clara Miriam?
-
Mirry is probably Clara Miriam?
You are probably correct. I don’t see her in the birth reg though.
Added she married Sydney Charles CURD 1920
Added more. Died 1977 dob given as 8 jan 1898

Greetings all.
As initiator and host of this post, I would like to thank you all for your input. I've had two unsuccessful attempts [different accounts] of contacting Wally BILTON, to brief him of your findings.
Not sure it I've been spamed out, or Wally is otherwise engaged. I do have his full address details should a need arise, if he is not responding to those personally supplying info.
Regards,
Alan.

Hey Alan
Just to let you know I intend to follow the Leila lineage, but it won't be until tomorrow.
No reply either to using the email address in the article, but not everyone checks their emails daily.

I believe I have found Leila's son. Am going to try and make contact and pass on the article.
-
Had a quick chat with a lovely gentleman (Leila's son) who is James' nephew, and was executor of his will.
Left the details of the article and this thread and hope he and the certificate holder make contact.
-
Well done Twiggy. :)

It was a team effort Mckha489. Makes a world of difference being able to bounce ideas off other like-minded individuals in a game of genealogical ping pong.
Really appreciate this community!
-
Greetings.
A very big thanks for your research, from Wally whom I've just contacted by phone.
Will forward a phone number you can contact Wally on by PM..
Alan.

Having transcribed wartime diaries and letters home, it always gives me a buzz if in a small way I'm able to assist in repatriating memorabilia, to extended family here in NZ. Not the first thime, and hopefully, not the last either.
Without the records data at home, nor subscriptions to the larger genealogy records providers, this brilliant NZ board Rootschat team, are the first I think of, and am always appreciative of your unstinting contributions. Helps to rekindle faith in our community, after hearing some of the goings on today, when it seams to be "all about me".
Regards all,
Alan.

Greetings all.
Had confirmation from Wally BILTON that the mission is complete. Thanks to all who contributed.
Alan.
