Hi what would a carriage painter do in 1905? would it be transport carriage for a baby or a painter of travelling coaches?

Suspect the latter rather than the former.  Train coaches also likely

I would also say a railway carriage painter.
Quite a skilled job especially when you think of the absolutely glossy finish and hand lining in gold.
