Title: Dating an old Military photo
Post by: Rachel Morris on Sunday 18 November 18 04:21 GMT (UK)
Hi I have this old photo, obtained from my Nan's photo album. A few years before her death she labelled all her photos and I have been compiling the family history. However this one was labled "Not sure". So the facts I have about this photo .... It is someone from my Nan's family, it appears to be military? and foreign (pith helmets).
I have photos of her grandma but none of her grandfather. He served in the military - in the Royal Artillery and served in India and Afghanistan but came out of the military in 1889 so I suspect that would be too early for a photo?
However I had wondered if it could be him? Dating may help me.

I have photos of soldiers similarly dressed taken in South Africa in 1911-1916.
