Hi,
I have just discovered that that there is a probate for Annie lodged in the State of Victoria in Australia.
The notice of probate and letters of Administration gives the information she died on the 30 April 1927, late of Lowell, Co Middlesex, Massachusetts. From this record, I have surmised her maiden name is Wall. She has likely inherited some property in the State of Victoria ( hence the Probate in Victoria) from a relative called Patrick Joseph Wall who was born in Ireland but migrated to Australia, but died in Victoria unmarried in 1923.
Could some kind soul please direct me to any records in the USA - death certificate, obituary, census etc would be so helpful. Thank you. Gazania

Thank you, Sandra. FamilySearch is always my first port of call these days as they have so many new records. But so far I have drawn a blank as the Mass death indexes stop well before 1927. So I am hoping for some local knowledge. Gazania

There are no Massachusetts death certificates online for that time period. In the Massachusetts death index, I don't see any Ann(ie) Beattie or Beatty who died between 1926-1930 in Massachusetts. Perhaps she lived in Lowell and died in another state.

Thank you for your prompt reply. You have helped eliminate another place of death, as she did not die in Ireland or in the State of Victoria, Australia. But as you say, she may have died in another State in the USA.
Meanwhile, I am waiting for the arrival of the will of Patrick Joseph Wall, which hopefully may include her name and her relationship. I shall try to be patient as it has only taken me 25 years to get this far to find there is indeed truth in the family story that money inherited from Australia was used to build a house on the family farm back in Coolderra, Co Clare, Ireland in the 1920 -1930s.
Thank you, Gazania

The Lowell, Mass, library might help with locating an obituary. If she had family in the area, there might have been one, even if she died elsewhere.

The "Lowell Sun", a local newspaper appears to have an extensive archive dating from the mid 1800's up to 2000. It may be worthwhile confirming with the paper that they have digitised the paper for the dates you are interested in. Access to their records is by subscription - details on their website.

I searched that paper on a subscription site. It did have papers from April and May 1927, but I found nothing for her.

Thank you so much for the suggestions and the newspaper search. I am still waiting for the will of Patrick Wall, where I am hoping relatives will be named. I shall keep you posted. Thank you.

Just updating this thread. The will of Patrick Joseph Wall of Melbourne indicates he left his estate to his nephews, John Curtain, Patrick Wall, John Wall of Queensland, and nieces, Mrs Hannah or Hanorah Gallagher and Annie Wall Beatty. At the time of probate, Annie W Beatty could not be traced.
Thanks again for your help.
