I'm wondering if anybody here is familiar with the family of John Doherty and Cecily McDade. They married in 1840 in Culdaff and had children born in Ballinabo. John born 1848 is first one I found. He emigrated to New York and died in Brooklyn in 1910. I have found the other children born in Ballinabo, but I hope somebody might know some cousins or descendants. He was related to a Cecily (or Cecelia) Doherty born about 1869, but not sure how. She also emigrated to Brooklyn and married an Edward Lafferty, who may also have been from Donegal. There is a Cecily born 1869 in Barrawalla? or Moneydarragh and this might be her. So many Dohertys.

-
No I don't think that is in Culdaff parish. I'm hoping somebody from the area will have some knowledge of the family.

ok
-
https://thecore.com/seanruad/ only lists 25 places (townlands) under Culdaff civil parish- including Moneydarragh but nothing close to 'Ballinabo' or 'Barrawalla.'
-
I was looking at that register last night, there are quite a few places named that don't appear to be on any list for tha parish.

Thanks everybody for all that help. I can see that John & Cecily had a daughter Cecily born on 5 Aug 1871. So maybe she was his daughter.

One of my ancestors was a Henry Doherty born in Ballynaboe (Culdaff) in the 1840's. He had a son who emigrated to NY and has descendants there. There were also Laffertys at Barrawalla (Culdaff).
