Hi Trish
Thanks for that info. I think that is him also but on one of the census it says he was born in Alcess Leicester well there is no such place. After many years of deciphering the writing of the enumerator we worked out that it was All Saints just written very badly. So we are confused when on the 41 census it states St Margaret's Leicester. Do you have any thoughts.

On the 1841 census he was living in St Margarets Parish, Leicester. The place of birth question (Yes) confirms he was born in the county of Leicestershire not the town of Leicester

I noticed that Henry's brother, John, baptised at All Saints on 13th August 1803 was living next door but one to Henry in 1851. His birth place is All Saints, the correct transcription of Alcess.
The first baptism for the family is William in 1801, although there may have been Fanny in 1797, entered as Lewit. The baptisms were in the adjoining parish of St Margaret's, but I can't find a marriage for John and Elizabeth.
David.

Yes I had noticed that John was living in the same street as Henry. Just wish I could find out more about their parents. there is some conjecture that the Mothers Name was Elizabeth Cartwright who was married to a Henry Lewis but cannot find any proof of this
