Can you post links to records you have for them?
Saves others have to go looking for what you are talking about.

Hi and Welcome :)
There is no marriage for a William STYNES or Ellen MAHER in 1871. Where has this information come from?
Debra :)
-
There was a marriage between a couple of these names in 1873 in Athy.

The 1871 marriage to Mary Jaques has William with a father William.
The 1873 record shows father as James.

That’s some great information thank you. I’ll have to see if I can tie them in to my tree, after taking it back to the beginning I know really don’t know where to go I have a William stynes 1823 Ireland died Liverpool 1853 this is my Williams dad his wedding certificate says his dad is james family says he was married to Margaret dowling I’ve not found anything yet but I’m really enjoying looking. Once again thank you all for helping me see where I got confused. 😊

So who is your William? If he is the one that married Mary JACQUES then it looks like his parents were William STYNES and Rosanna ROTHWELL.
Liverpool William's birth registration:
STYNES, WILLIAM
Mother's maiden surname: ROTHWELL
GRO Reference: 1848 D Quarter in LIVERPOOL Volume 20 Page 449
...... his wedding certificate says his dad is james
William STINES
Gender: Male
Marital Status: Single
Marriage Date: 2 Oct 1843
Marriage Place: Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Father: James STINES
Spouse: Rosanna ROTHWELL
FHL Film Number: 1656508
Reference ID: it 1, p 195, no 390
I assume that you mean that Margaret DOWLING was the wife of James and mother of William Snr.
How do you know that William Snr (born c1823) was born in Ireland? Have you found him on the 1851 census?
Can you give some occupations please from the marriage or birth certs for the men in the family?
Debra :)
-
Answering my own question, I can see an image of the STINES/ROTHWELL marriage, and William is an iron moulder, his father James is a labourer.
Debra :)
-
Yes the William from the original question married Mary Jacques, his father William b. 1823 I have not found on the 1851 census. There is a W Stine of a similar age both are labourers on the 1841 census with a James stine as the head of the household along with a Anne Stine and a H stine all from Ireland, can’t seem to find any Irish records for a birth😊
