Title: Gravestone Inscription
Post by: *Sandra* on Friday 30 November 18 12:56 GMT (UK)
Can anyone decipher the inscription on this headstone.  John Hoadley born 1791-1794 England buried
Greenwood Cemetery Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio 1878.
Suspect he might have been born Yorkshire   ???

Not sure about the word before 18*91. It should be a month but looks as if it starts with an H - maybe Mar or Aug

 :-\

* could be 7  but ??

Well it's definitely 1?91 on that stone and don't see a Harrogate - only Yorkshire

Looking at the Find a Grave entry , something must be wrong - either the  stone or the information.

all referenced in that link I gave above............

The object of the poster is to find out if the third wife Hannah was buried with John Hoadley. Don't think this inscription is going to help in that respect.

Just seen that now, Sandra. Seems that the OP on that thread didn't ask for info about burial with Hannah until the end of the thread (after you'd posted the image). Clearly, nothing on the stone  ::)

Added - Ref to 1841 must be on a previous thread - not on

Just found it tucked away in the long 9 page thread. I think BB gave the info.

Probably talking out of my other end here, but if I squint I can make a case for 'Rotherham'.

I looked at this some days ago on Gibby's other thread and thought it said Yorkshire/York-shire
