Title: Wrong image opens
Post by: atmartinas on Wednesday 05 December 18 23:12 GMT (UK)
I found a record that I hope is the death of my 2xggrandmother Anne Leary 1890 but when I open the image its the wrong one. I was going to post the link but its so long I think something is wrong with it.

The record I am referring to is Death for Anne Leary 1890 Enniscorthy Reg District. The reason I believe its her is because I know of an old grave that are ancestors related to that family, its a confusing headstone as relationships are not clearly stated but there is an Anne Leary nee Murphy d 21st Feb 1890.
I have reported the problem with the image, my question is, is there any way to find the right image or do I have to either be patient and wait for it to be corrected or but the cert?

Thanks for reading,
M

I've also reported a wrong image error!
Mine was in Donnybrook, Dublin South and was a birth record for James Breen in 1896.

Reported yesterday; so no reply yet.

You won't get a reply to reporting an error.
The plan was all reported errors would be fixed on the next update, which hasn't happened yet.

It can sometime help to check the pages before and after the one that came up as long as from the correct reg district.

The one that came up is Swinford but the web address is really really long which I think is a bit odd, I have changed the last digit in the web address before to look at next page but I find this web address a bit scary! I am really curious to see if it is her so I guess I will be paying my money tomorrow to get a copy poste out :-\

There is (usually) a way to find the correct page but it can take a lot of searching.

1) select Enniscorthy as the registration district
2) select 1890-1890 for starting and ending year
3) select deaths

Shows 608 results but you just need to find a death in the correct quarter (this can take a little while) then scroll through page by page until you get the correct page.

For example- randomly bringing up this from results-https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1890/06103/4741881.pdf then change last number from 4741881 to 471882...
Knowing the subdistrict will usually make it a bit easier.

Added- the url looks perfectly normal

Thanks but that is not the one I was referring to, its Anne age 72. I will post the link but I have no confidence in it as I said I have never seen one for one of the civil records that is so long!

That's a normal link to a search result,
You could use the other one I posted to search the other pages in Enniscorthy

The 'long link' is merely showing that page of the index (nothing sinister about it) but when you click on 'image' you get the link to the actual register that we are giving.

Thanks Aghadowey I think I will try, I have no patience to wait to order the cert, I just want to confirm, I so hope it is her. There are 3 graves together all Learys and my Aunt told me about the graves but she has no idea how the people in the grave are related only that they are.

There is a handy tool for searching through the images but it doesn't catch the ones that have more that one image per result.

Thanks again, I am glad its not sinister, but it opens a Swinford page not an Enniscorthy one, I will try what you suggested looking at Enniscorthy deaths for that year and if I get too tired before I find it I will order it tommorow.
Thanks again

So happy here. Now I can confidently start to unravel everyone else on the 3 grave stones, good old aunt too telling me about them even though she has no understanding why I am interested in 'people so long dead and gone'

Thanks again

Glad the image has been found but for future reference...

At the bottom of every page, in the brown coloured area, there's a column with 'Your Tools' which has 'ShrinkLink (make long links short)'
When you click on it, this is what you get...
'Shrink Long Website Links'
Enter your long link & this is the result...

You need to tell good old aunt, ''people so long dead and gone' can be far more interesting than some of the living  :D

Thanks Annie, I will know what to do if I get a link like that in future...poor me I was afraid of it!
As for my Aunt, she does think I am mad but she also keeps giving me invaluable information.  You would laugh if you heard our conversations. I ask her every time if she has been at any funerals lately and if so are they connected to us! I have found great info that way. I won't tell her I confirmed mgt leary she would be offended and say she told me they were our Learys graves.
Very happy I posted that last night, was just going to wait and order today.  Not only do I have her but I learned something about links.
Thanks everyone.
