Hello please can I have help once more, on a Marriage at Tottenham,24.3.1912 Arthur John George, aged 39 widower, lab, son of a Timothy, a gardener=Mary E Humphries,24, d Charles. would like to pin down the birth of Timothy George, checked FREEBMD, 1838 Sleaford, 1840 Bromyard Herts,1856 Meltom Mobray, 1857Newark, 1858 Lambeth, 1866 Gainsborough, very many thanks.Margaret.

Why not trace Arthur John George in census records to find details of father (age & birthplace)? Arthur's birth certificate will list both parents then you can look for the marriage to get names of both fathers (Arthur's grandfathers), etc.

YES have been doing that, going round in circles.

there's a possible first marriage 21 Sept 1884 in Edmonton to Mary Ann Mansfield for a 21 year old Arthur John son of Timothy, gardener, not noted as deceased. It's not unknown for ages to be changed when there's an age gap between spouses.

Have you got Arthur John's address, nearest address 1911 which should give you his place of birth, 1912- 39 = 1875, can't find one so far that fits

There is a Timothy George married to a Mary Ann living in Edmonton from 1881 through to 1911, although by 1911 he is a widower living with son Albert and family. Born c1834 he gives his pob as Burden or Bardon Essex in 1901 and 1911. In 1881 it is Burnden Herts and in 1891 Bishop Stortford. Unfortunately I cannot see a son Arthur with the family.

Arthur Williams sept qtr 1863 Edmonton vol 3a pg 142 mmn Williams
so tying in with marriage found earlier. The 1871 Williams family with grandson Arthur John George are only a few census pages away from Timothy George and the rest of his family.
