Marj, the Evening chronicle would have no doubt covered this, their back copies are on fiche in Newcastle
library the Sunderland and Northern echo's would have report's too no doubt all telling the same tale,We had a neighbor murdered in Birtley in 1971 and the street was crawling with reporter's my mother was
interviewed as the deceased's husband came and got her to help after finding her I looked over the report's
a couple of year's ago out of interest.

Hi Steve, thank you for the info, unfortunately I live in Cheshire too far to visit Newcastle, My grandson-in-law is connected to Olive, and I am helping him to find this information for him.
Thanks Marj

Hi Marj,I'm in Durham and might be able to get a screenprint of any article next time i'm in Newcastle
might be after Christmas though,I'll see what info I can dig up in the meantime.
Patrick Keogh was aged 60 from Barley Mow which is part of Birtley.Find My Past
has an article from the Birmingham post online(I can't view as I'm not a full member)
so the incident may have made the national's.
